Dear Brutus, Rome is in trouble! I just overheard two conspirators say that Julius Caesar may soon become the king of Rome. If Caesar becomes king, it would be the end of Rome’s republican system of government. The senators that represent the citizens of Rome would now control most of the power. I know that you are a friend of Caesar and you think you are an equal to him, but you’re not! He already refused the crown before. He won’t refuse the crown again, trust me! Brutus, I beg you to join the conspirators and help us rid Rome of this selfish and controlling person.

You will be doing a good thing for Rome if you agree to help us kill Caesar. I realize that you are apprehensive, but you need to place the good of Rome above your personal interests and feelings. I can provide you with three good reasons why Caesar should be removed from power. First, Julius Caesar thinks he is an absolute ruler and feels superior to other mortals. He is becoming too powerful. Brutus loves Caesar, but fears his power. This is shown in the quote “What means this shouting?

I do fear the people do choose Caesar for their king… yet I love him well. “(Shakespeare 32) Secondly, if he gains the power and control of Rome, he will tell the people what they want to hear to become king and then turn his back on them when they need support. He is not trustworthy! “climber-upward… “He then unto the ladder turns his back” (Shakespeare 64) As the quote says, Brutus would not allow Caesar to rise to power and then turn his back on the people of Rome. Finally, you would be a better ruler and king than Caesar.

Your love for Rome and the people who live here is greater than Caesar’s could ever be. You have been trusting to Caesar’s wants, but it is time that you think about seizing fate for yourself. This is shown in this quote “Men at some time are masters of their fates; The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, But in ourselves, that we are underlings. ” (Shakespeare 36) Please think long and hard about what I said in this letter.
